Help & FAQ

Questions, answered

Simple answers about getting help, earning by helping, and how Listo works in Gibraltar.

If you need help

Is it free to ask for help?

Yes, completely free. Asking for help, getting prices and choosing someone costs you nothing. Listo never charges you. You pay the person you choose directly.

How do I pay the person who does the job?

Directly — by cash, bank transfer, or another way you both agree on. Listo never handles any money. Any agreement for work is between you and that person; Listo is not part of it.

What kinds of jobs can I ask for help with?

Everyday household and local tasks: flat-pack furniture assembly, moving bulky items around Gibraltar, cleaning, painting and decorating, errands, general odd jobs, and more. We do not cover specialist trades (electrical, gas, plumbing, structural work), medical or healthcare services, or anything that requires a professional licence in Gibraltar. If we're unsure about a job, a person checks it before others can see it.

Can I use Listo if I'm outside Gibraltar?

No. Listo is for the Gibraltar community only. Jobs must be done in Gibraltar.

How quickly will I get prices?

We can't promise how quickly — it depends on how many local helpers are free for that kind of job in your area. As soon as your job is on Listo, the right local helpers are told straight away.

What if something goes wrong?

Any disagreement about the work is between you and the person who did it. Listo is not part of the agreement and does not oversee the work. You can report a concern through the Report button on any profile, job or message. We look at every report and act where needed.

Does Listo check the people who help?

No. Listo does not carry out background checks, licence checks or insurance checks. Businesses can tell us about themselves; we show this clearly as "Self-declared, not verified by Listo", which means we have not checked it. Please read profiles and recommendations carefully and use your own judgement.

If you want to earn by helping

Free while we get started: sending prices for jobs costs nothing. See what it costs

How much does it cost to earn by helping?

Nothing for now. Listo is free while we get started. Once Listo has 25 or more real local jobs asked for every month, it will cost £20 a month. We'll tell you at least 30 days before, and you don't need to give a bank card while it's free.

When would I have to pay?

Only when Listo has 25 or more real local jobs asked for every month. We show this number openly on our Pricing page. Until then, it's all free.

Can I see jobs without paying?

Yes — and for now you can also send a price for any job for free. There's nothing to pay at all right now.

Can I cancel?

Once charges start, yes — stop any time. For now, there's nothing to cancel.

Do I need to be a business?

No. Anyone in Gibraltar can help as a local individual. If you run a business, you can sign up as a business — your profile then shows a "Business (self-declared)" label. "Self-declared" means you told us; Listo does not check it.

How do I get paid?

The customer pays you directly, in whatever way you both agree. Listo never handles any money.

What happens if a customer doesn't pay?

Payment and any disagreement are between you and the customer. Listo only puts people in touch and is not part of the agreement.

About Listo

What is Listo?

Listo is a Gibraltar website where people who need help with everyday jobs can find local people and local businesses to do them. We only put people in touch — we are not part of any agreement for work.

Is Listo a UK brand, a chain or a franchise?

No. Listo is not a UK brand or franchise, and it isn't part of GigNGo or another platform. It is a Gibraltar community project, made for the people of Gibraltar.

How will Listo make money?

Right now it doesn't — everything is free while we get started. Once Listo has 25 or more local jobs a month, people offering help will pay £20 a month, with 30 days' notice. We will never charge customers or take a share of anyone's earnings.

What jobs can't go on Listo?

Cannot be posted or offered: tattooing; piercing or anything breaking the skin; injections; therapy or counselling; healthcare. Also not available for now: electrical, gas, plumbing, structural work, childcare and personal care. Tasks must be in Gibraltar. See the full list.

Recommendations

What is a recommendation?

Instead of star ratings, clients can recommend a provider they’d happily use again. There’s no score out of five: a client either recommends someone or doesn’t. They can add tags such as “Reliable” or “Fair price”, and a short comment.

Why recommendations and not star ratings?

They’re fairer to both sides. Nobody feels pushed into giving five stars, and one bad day doesn’t drag a score down. They also work when you arrange the details on WhatsApp instead of in Listo chat.

What does “Recommendation linked to an accepted quote” mean?

It means the person who recommended the provider had accepted that provider’s quote on Listo. It doesn’t mean Listo has checked that the work was done, or how well.

How do I leave a recommendation?

After you accept a quote, the provider can send you a personal link, usually on WhatsApp. We may also email you the same link a couple of days later. Tap it, then “Yes, I’d recommend them”. There’s no login, it takes seconds, and it’s optional.

Something went wrong. What should I do?

Tap “Had a problem? Tell us privately” on the recommendation page, or report the conversation from your messages. Only the Listo team sees it. It doesn’t appear on the provider’s profile and doesn’t affect it.

I’m a provider. How do I get recommendations?

When a client accepts your quote, open the task and tap “Copy WhatsApp message”. It includes a personal link for that client. Each link works once, for that quote only, and expires after 30 days. Only the client can use it: you can’t leave a recommendation for them.

What happened to star ratings?

Star ratings are no longer shown on Listo. Existing ratings haven’t been deleted. We keep them on our records, but they no longer appear on profiles or in search.

Emails & notifications

How do I stop announcement emails?

Sign in and go to Account → Email preferences, then switch off “News and announcements”. Every announcement email also includes a link to that page in the footer. Open email preferences.

Which emails are switched on by default?

Only essential messages: account and security emails, and updates about your own tasks, quotes and messages. New job alerts, recommendation reminders and news are off until you choose them, either when you register or later in Account. Open email preferences.

Can I turn off phone notifications?

Yes. Phone (push) notifications only start if you allow them, and you can switch them off in Account or in your browser or phone settings at any time. Open email preferences.
